There’s a reason so many people come back to caravan breaks in Scotland year after year. Lochs, forests, mountains and coastline, all within easy reach of your accommodation, with none of the rigid routine of a hotel stay.
So, before you book your next caravan break in Scotland, here’s what’s worth thinking about first.

Choosing One of Our Parks
We have four very different parks to choose from, so it’s worth matching the setting to what you want from your trip. Our Loch Lomond Holiday Park sits right on the water at Inveruglas, with its own private beach and kayak hire on site. Loch Awe Holiday Park is a quieter, rolling countryside setting on the River Awe near Oban, with easy access to fishing and hillwalking.
Drimsynie Estate Holiday Village on Loch Goil is built around an extensive leisure complex, making it a strong choice for families wanting plenty to do without leaving the park. Our Hunters Quay Holiday Village near Dunoon looks out over the Holy Loch and is reached via a short ferry crossing, which tends to add to the adventure rather than detract from it.
What’s Actually in a Caravan
Modern static caravans tend to be more comfortable than people expect, with a proper self-catering kitchen, a lounge area and outdoor seating as standard. Exact layouts, bedroom counts and extras vary by park and by caravan grade, so it’s worth checking the specifics for your chosen dates when you book.
Beyond the Caravan: Lodges and Pods
If you want a bit more space or a special touch like a hot tub, lodges are worth considering. Our Loch Lomond Holiday Park offers Classic Lodges with a private hot tub option alongside its caravans. Our Loch Awe Holiday Park has Luxury and Classic Lodges, both available with hot tubs and our Drimsynie Estate Holiday Village has the widest range, including Scandinavian-style A-frame lodges, themed family lodges, apartments and cottages, while our Hunters Quay Holiday Village offers Classic and Luxury Lodges, both with a hot tub option overlooking the loch.

On-Site Facilities Worth Knowing About
Facilities vary by park, so it’s worth checking what’s actually on site before you book. Our Loch Lomond Holiday Park has an on-site shop, children’s play area and kayak and paddleboard hire from March to October. Our Loch Awe Holiday Park includes a convenience store, games room, children’s play area and even a petrol station at the entrance. Our Drimsynie Estate Holiday Village has an indoor swimming pool, gym, golf course and evening entertainment, while our Hunters Quay Holiday Village offers two indoor pools, a climbing wall and an activities programme for children.
Budgeting for Your Break
Caravan breaks remain one of the more affordable ways to holiday in Scotland, but a few things affect the price:
- Time of year, with peak summer weekends costing the most
- Accommodation type, with lodges and hot tub units costing more than a standard caravan
- Length of stay
- Extras like Wi-Fi, pet fees or awning space
Book outside the school holidays and you’ll usually find better availability and lower prices, without giving up much on the weather.

When to Go
The caravan season in Scotland typically runs March through October. Spring and autumn bring quieter parks and milder crowds. July and August are the warmest, but also the busiest, so book early if those are your only dates.
Booking Tips
- Book early for summer weekends at popular parks, particularly Loch Lomond and Hunters Quay
- Check cancellation policies given Scotland’s changeable weather
- Confirm pet policies and any breed restrictions if you’re bringing a dog. All our parks are dog friendly, but you’ll need to make sure you’ve booked one of our dog friendly accommodation options.
