Ten benefits of escaping to Argyll this Easter

  • Escape this Easter
  • There's so much to do
  • Breaksto suit everyone

Easter is fast approaching, but should you go abroad, or stay in Scotland? There has been a 25% rise in staycations (The Independent) over recent years, so we’ve compiled 10 reasons to make it a trip to Argyll during the holidays.

Whether it be the rocky sea cliffs, or the acres of lochs, mountains and glens that fade into the distance, the west coast of Scotland is unbeatable when it comes to scenery – There are ample opportunities for exploring new places or for taking that perfect snap. And don’t forget the incredible road trip routes.

Argyll Holidays’ entertainment has had a facelift and by introducing the new Stargyll brand onsite at Drimsynie Estate & Hunters Quay. With themed evenings, family fun and the best in live acts (including UB40, Take That & Westlife tributes), there really is no better place this Easter.

Activities & Fun

Activities & Fun

There’s so much you can get up to in Argyll this Easter. Adrenaline type? Get out on the water with a rib ride, some wakeboarding or a kayaking trip. More into relaxation? Chill out in an outdoor infinity pool, explore local gardens, or treat yourself to a spa offering – you deserve it.

Food & Drink

Food & Drink

There’s a delicious range of food & drink producers on our doorstep, from locally reared venison and Scottish Atlantic halibut, to cheeses, jams and home ground coffee. Food from Argyll brings together suppliers from across the area, and their pier café in Oban is simply unmissable during a trip to Scotland’s west coast.

Friendly Wildlife

Sheep, badgers, cattle, deer, squirrels, seals…The list of local wildlife is endless, and that’s before even thinking about the birdlife. Get up close to our hairy highland friends - adorable ‘Heilan coos’ can be spotted throughout the area and are often the highlight of many visitors’ trip.

Argyll is so accessible from central Scotland - you can pack up and set off for a short break without any planning. It’s hard to believe that Argyll starts just 30 miles from Glasgow, so it’s ideal even for a daytrip (though we recommend spending more time here!) Car hire is available from the main airports and train stations, so even if you’re travelling from outwith Scotland, you won’t be left stranded.

Scotland is well known for its friendly, welcoming hospitality, and that is no different in Argyll. Enjoy a refreshment in a local bar and socialise with the locals or strip the willow at a traditional ceilidh dance.  It’s also worth taking the time to attend a local highland games, and soak in the fabulous hospitality and culture on offer. Cocktail, anyone?

The local area offers a variety of different accommodation types to suit all budgets. From traditional inns and contemporary hotelss, to cosy cottages, luxury caravans and deluxe hot tub lodges, you won’t be short for somewhere to stay, but we urge you to book in advance, especially as it gets busy during Easter.

Pets Love It

Let’s face it, our four-legged friends are one of the family, and a holiday is just not the same without them. Luckily, we’re fond of dogs here in Argyll, pet-friendly accommodation and even a free doggie goodie bag for your pooch on arrival.

The Stars ALSO Love It

Argyll is no stranger to fame, with stars known to escape to the area for a break – Andy Murray, Billy Connolly, Scarlett Johanssen & Liz Turley have all been known to visit in recent years, whilst actress Emma Thomson actually has a holiday home in Argyll. More recently, a film cast including Craig Ferguson & Kathie Lee Gifford hailed the location as phenomenal, during a stay at Drimsynie Estate.
