Loch Awe is Scotland’s longest freshwater loch and the circuit around its shores can often be pretty hilly, with Argyll’s highest mountain, Ben Cruachan looming impressively to one side of it.
The Wild About Argyll Trail is not too technical and a great ride if you don’t mind the going getting gravelly.
There are a number of forestry tracks worth tackling including the Balindor circuit, through Fearnoch Forest and along the east side of Loch Etive.
Or why not take your bikes to Argyll’s coast, hop on a ferry and explore the islands on two wheels? The Isle of Mull offers up some incredible views of picturesque beaches, while smaller islands like Lismore and Luing make great day trips; Kerrera has the appeal of being completely car-free.
While Glencoe mountain is a huge draw for skiers in the wintertime, come summer it's a popular destination for mountain bikers, with great trails for riders of all abilities.
